Database Apps

In addition to my web development, I have 10 years experience in the design and implementation of various industrial strength database applications. These applications are mostly built with MS Access as a front end connecting to a database server such as MSSQL Server, Oracle or mySQL. The examples below are currenly in use within one of the UKs largest retail/warehousing groups. Unfortunately, due to contractual obligations, I am obliged to keep their identity confidential.

Industrial Applications

Proximity WMS 3.1

This is a Warehouse Management system which maintains everything from the receipt of goods to a warehouse to despatch to end customers. Barcode driven, the system can handle hundreds of thousands of transactions a day with no performance hit. As well as stock control, this application also takes care of employee data, overtime, payroll, space allocation and much more. As well as all that, there are hundreds or reports, mostly user customisable, that generate useful and meaningful output

Bonus Payment Application 2.5

This application works in real time to calculate an individuals productivity using industry standards to generate a bonus payment based on many factors including, but not limited to, time taken on a job, rest periods etc. Barcode driven data collection, with a full suite of user driven reports

Assist Helpdesk 4.2

This application logs and tracks calls made to an IT Support unit. In addition to call logging, there is a full suite of reports and performance analysis tools

Delivery Booker 1.0

This application allows a warehouse to receive goods, process them immediately and to produce barcoded labels for each item so that it may be tracked within a warehouse environment. This is a natural partner to Proximity WMS and comes with a suite of performance reporting tools

Epsilon Coder 4.3

Another barcode driven application that records parcels moving from one depot to another

Just for fun

As well all the heavy duty industrial stuff above, I have also designed database apps for my own needs. You know how it is, you have something you want to do and can't find anything suitable on the open market? So, you build your own! Some of my work includes a CD catalogue database, music composition recording tools etc.
